I run furmark, sometimes It will go a whole ten minutes. Most of the time though It will just cut off, almost like someone pushed the reset button. Would this have to do with the fact I am missing the four pin plug for the motherboard? It has both a eight pin an a four pin CPU power. I am using an 2080ti also. I am unable to test a real game until tomorrow morning because of download speeds.

Specs:

MSI X570-A PRO Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC ULTRA GAMING
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3000 MHz DDR4 DRAM
Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ White Certified PSU
Corsair iCUE 220T RGB Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower Smart Case

With no professional reviews and a high price tag I wouldn't buy one.

Someone needs to start reviewing them. I guess because G. Skill is brand new on the power supply scene no one has gotten around to it yet. The pricing is what I like about Micro Center. They offer great products at great prices. I would say $217 is a good price nonetheless for a an 850 watt psu that is platinum rated. Its worth a shot the way I see it.

Not really, you can get an 850w Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum for less than $200 and it has a 12 year warranty. You can get a 850w Antec HCG Platinum for $150 and it's built on a Seasonic Platform(Focus Platinum). These units have been professionally reviewed.

I don't know why G-Skill didn't send any out for review but that is usually a bad sign/red flag.

Well I got mines for $95. I see they made entrance onto the power supply scene about four years ago according to this video. I'd like to think they'd put in some effort selling quality PSU's giving they are the newest kid on the block.

Good for you, but they don't cost that anymore and it's taking this thread off topic.

EVGA, while they are 'top dog' in the gpu market, they kinda blow when it comes to power supplies.
They make a bunch of cheap crap, and the decent ones they do make are overpriced... where's the balance in that?
Corsair and Seasonic have them beat when it comes to power supplies.

I guess EVGA thinks they can slack off in other markets just because they are considered one of the best in the GPU market.....shame!!! 😑

I've been playing no mans sky for a couple of hours so far without any failures. I am not sure If there is a problem yet, but Im going to replace my power supply anyways.

Corsair and Sesonic good brands? How do I tell if a powersupply is acceptable?

The smart isn't a know system killer, as there are definitely worse out there, but it's underpowered and under quality for a $1200 GPU. Just spending 10% of what that gpu cost will get you a good PSU.

Professional reviews are one of the best ways to tell if a PSU is good. Corsair and Seasonic have some great units, they also have some that are best avoided.

Will the Corsair RM650x Suffice?

Thye RM650x only has 1 8-pin(4+4) eps connector. However the extra 4 pin on the motherboard is only needed for extra overclocking power. You can buy a 2nd eps modular cable from Corsair($4) if you want the extra power but it will reduce the amount of PCI-e power connections you will have(2 6+2 connectors instead of 4 as the EPS and PCI-e use the same ports on the PSU).
