Hi

My computer has all of a sudden started running extremely slowly, though it is high spec. I have ran anti malware scans, disabled services such as superfech and BITS etc but nothing seems to fix it.

I am also seeing very often a 100% disk usage. Webpages are loading very slowly, and windows things such as file explorer and the start menu are even slower.

I also used HWMonitor and found that my motherboard is at a constant temperature of 115 degrees celsius, though all my other components are relatively cool and my cooling is adequate.

I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden, any suggestions?
(It has been happening since before I upgraded to windows 10, but it's slightly worse)

Thanks.

Solution
I had the same problem on my win 10 pro pc
It is just a bug in latest update of windows 10
Cause---While device resets can be caused by a varying number of factors, we are aware of issues with some Advanced Host Controller Interface PCI-Express(AHCI PCIe) models that causes these symptoms in Windows 10 when running with the inbox StorAHCI.sys driver. Due to a firmware bug, the Solid-state drive (SSD) does not properly complete input/output when Message Signaled Interrupt (MSI) mode is enabled. As a result, the Windows storage stack attempts to reset the device after waiting on unresponsive reads or writes for a period of time.

You could try defragmenting your drives.

Press windows button
type "defrag"
click on "defragment and optimize drives"
If you can, analyze your main drive (usually (C: )) and then optimize (if you cant analyze, just skip straight to optimizing)

let me know if it helps.

do disk clean up (select all option including system files { box... bottom left } ) and system defragment.... try installing all the games and those huge softwares in some other drives.. try to keep ur C drive as much as clean in can be... also disable all the startups... it should be in ur task manager if u are using win10... and also check for virus...
i guess these should do the tricks..

There seems to be quite a few causes but they are all to stop with background services. I'd tried stopping superfetch and Windows search, and background intelligent transfer service but these made no major difference. They may have bought me a few percent of capacity meaning I could still try other things. The solution for me was to uninstall acronis true image (WD edition). It was hard to do because the regular process didn't work. There is a good set of instructions on the Acronis website: kb.acronis.com/content/40366
I needed to use a special MS tool called FixIt, linked from this page, which scans the registry first and then runs the system installer. It was a massive relief to see the disk activity graph drop down screen the uninstaller completed. Keep the task manager window 'performance' tab open as you try things. Expect a few seconds delay in response as you go and for the system to take a minute to stabilize. Good luck.
