Pc audio issue

Hi guys I’m hoping someone can help me. The ports on my rear and front panel won’t recognise anything being plugged in, tried headphones and my creative speakers. The only way I can get any sound is using a hdmi cable into my monitor and using the monitor speakers that are in built. But I’ve tested the headphones and speakers on my phone and they both work, creative cable is a bit dodgy but I can make it work. I don’t know what to do. Help please.

Are your sound drivers up to date? Are you using onboard sound or a card? Have you checked the playback devices setup in the Windows sound control panel?

Sound drivers are current, it’s onboard sound, but neither back or front panel are registering anything being plugged in. Might just have to get s soundcard or update my system it’s 12mths old anyway

If it's only a year old, there's no reason why this should be happening unless something has changed on your system.

I got hacked, reinstalled windows but I think they just keep taking ownership and messing with the system.

Even the Ethernet wasn’t working it took me a whole night to get that back and now it’s like the ports aren’t there, I checked that they were plugged into the board. I used to have a Realtek interface that would come up if something was plugged in but I don’t have that anymore either even though I installed the latest drivers.

Guess I’ll just have to put up with hdmi through my monitor for now til I can upgrade board etc or buy a sound card. Thanks for your help anyway
