PC Beeping when playing Fortnite

Title says it all. It is a bit annoying and I think that cpu might be overheating. My monitor happened to shut down 2 times and that was not happening before beeping. Cpu - i5 2400 at stock speed, rx 550 2gb, 4gb ddr3 ram. This pc is old like 5 years, and I have not replaced thermal paste ever. I'm buying a new one soon so I'm not planning on upgrading it or whatever. Btw cpu idle temp is 40°C, is that good or no?

Idle temp doesn't mean much. You have to see what the temp is when you're full load.

What kind of beeping? Is it from the external speakers? Or the tiny speaker in the case? If the latter, how many beeps? You say your monitor shut down, what about the PC? Did the PC shutdown or reboot or are you just losing your video feed?

Your idle temp is fine. Don't worry about thermal paste, if applied correctly you shouldn't have to replace it. My i7 is 6 years old and runs almost constantly. Never changed the paste and runs perfectly.

80 sounds a bit high to me. You could check your BIOS to see what the threshold is. Most motherboards will shutdown after a certain temp is reached to prevent damage.

I think mobo is beeping, it says cpu warning temp 70°C. And when my monitor shut down, pc didnt, but it exited out of fortnite too. Btw bios is saying tham my cpu temp 53°

Temp is currently 53 but there should be something that states at what temp it'll shut down.

I looked up your CPU and Intel says 72.6 degrees seems to be about the max safe temperature. So if it's hitting 80, while it could still be safe it does run the risk of overheating.

I'm guessing stock cooler? Ever cleaned out the fan and heatsink? Dust could have built up. Blow it out with a can of air. If you end up removing the heatsink to clean it, then you'll definitely want to clean off the old paste and reapply new.
