PC black screen while gaming

When I start playing Shadow of Mordor and other high res games I only play for a few minutes and then my screen turns black and my speakers start outputting a weird noise. My PC is still on and running when I get the black screen but I can't see my cursor and Ctrl Alt Delete as well as Alt F4 does nothing. (Also my hard drive does seem quite loud when I'm using my computer).

Despite this I can play low-res games like TF2 and Portal 2 and none of this stuff happens to me, they work fine and don't have any problems. How do I get rid of this black screen problem? Thanks for all help.

Try updating the drivers of the graphics card if you haven't tried doing that already, would send you direct link but there are 3 models of the GTX 770 so find out which one you have and update it to the latest one.

Also check to see if there are any crash files in your minidump folder ( C drive - Windows - Minidump folder) if there isnt a minidump folder dont worry about it as windows has created it. if they are files in the minidump folder upload them at http://www.osronline.com/page.cfm?name=analyze will give you a report of the crash, and post it on the forums if you can.

it wouldn't be a bad a idea to look at your event logs to see if anything stands out that could be related to the issue right before the screens goes black.

I have tried updating my graphics card driver and the games are still crashing and there is nothing in my Minidump folder, what else can I do? Also after I updated my graphics card driver when the game crashes its sometimes a white screen now.
