My pc is slowing down whenever i try to move large files, causing cursor hitching and lagging and going to rest of pc. Built high end pc last year, cannot do anything while files are moving between drives. Attempted to move 280 gb from pc to external hardrive and could not get anything to work on pc during files transfer as it just made my mouse and pc bog and start lagging throughout the entire thing.

CPU-7950x
gpu- RTX4090
SSD 980 pro 2 tb
SSD 990 pro 2 TB
SSD 870
Gskill 32 gb 6000 ddr5

EDIT: task manager doesnt show anything being overused or too high

Look in Resource Monitor.

How full is each SSD?

PSU: make, model, wattage, age , condition (original to build/"last year", new, refurbished, used)?

External hard drive: USB? Powered via host pc port or via an independently powered USB hub?

SSDs - brand & model? HDD being Seagate: which model/version?

What is being used to to do the file transfers?

Copy/Paste or drag and drop?

App, utility, script (DOS/Powershell) etc.?

What is the source of the large files first being stored on the PC and that you are subsequentially attempting to transfer to the other drives?

File types?

Indexing?

AV/Malware scanning = ON?
