Hey guys,

Well, i have my pc for like 3 years now and all of the sudden i need to boot it twice. The first time i start it up it wil just stay on the background of my login screen ( see picture 1) and after i restart it is fine and goes straight to my desktop, but the thing is that when i try to restart it now it will just stay on the login background and it won't go back to the desktop... i have always been very carefull with having a virus on my pc so i have malwarebytes installed and do a weekly scan.

Things i have tried:

  • ■ [Restarting it a few times
    ■ Repairing my pc in the troubleshoot menu (with no succes, it doesnt even finish)
    ■ Unplugging the power and pressing the powerbutton (for all the power to get out)
    ■ Leaving the case off overnight (it has been quite hot these days, although the cpu temp was
    40-50°
    ■ Tried to rese/refresh my pc but no luck because it says it ran into a ''problem''

Specs:
Windows 10 (upgraded from windows 8.1 (i have the disk for 8.1)
AMD FX-6300 CPU
AMD R270X 2GB GPU
Dont know the Motherboard (Will look it up when home from work)
2X 4GB DDR3

If any of you need to know more info please let me know.
Help is much appreciated

Solution
Sounds like a corruption of the Master Boot Record, which depending on the damage done may be fixed with an MBR Reset, or if that doesn't work, a re-install of the OS.

How to reset/fixthe MBR: https://neosmart.net/wiki/fix-mbr/
How to clean install Windows: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3042481/windows/how-to-clean-install-windows-the-right-way.html

Once you're back up and running you'll need to ensure that you are backed up in case this happens again. Using a backup utility like Macrium Reflect or RollBack Rx will help.
