Hi there,
I bought a custom build PC about a year ago and everything was fine until one day a few months back, I put the PC to sleep like I've done a few times, and then when I went to wake it up, it wouldn't. So I turned it off and on again with the power button and it came on so I thought nothing of it.
The next week I went to turn the PC on and the fans and lights came on, but the mobo didn't beep and it wouldn't boot. After turning it off and on for about an hour it came on, but since then it has been getting worse, with me having to turn it off and on for between 2-3 hours before it will start up. One day I spent 4 hours turning the PC off and on and it just wouldn't start up so I gave up. Whenever I turn it on, the fans and lights come on always, it just doesn't beep/boot up always.
I put up with this for about a month before taking the PC back to the shop, however while at the shop, it started up properly every time. They switched it off and on about 4 times, twice with my power cable, and it booted up fine each time. So I took it back home and tried to turn it on, and again, the fans and lights came one, but the mobo didn't beep and it wouldn't start up.
There is a computer repairer up the road from me who works out of his own house, so I thought I'd take it there to see if he would have the same issue, but the PC booted up fine at his house too. He advised everything in the PC is fine and told me to buy a surge protector instead of plugging the PC directly into the wall, so I did that, hooked everything up at my house however after all that I still had this start up issue.
I thought maybe there was something wrong with the power in my home, so I have had two electricians out to check my home, and the power co have sent a couple of linesman out to check the power lines, and they have all reported back to me that everything is fine power/electricity wise. Despite all this, my PC still doesn't start up all the time.
And still, it's getting worse. Before, whenever it eventually booted up, it would work perfectly fine, however after the electricians got involved and didn't find anything, I've just decided to keep the PC on, which was going ok, but now it has started to turn off by itself. Once while I was gaming, and once when I was out and no one was using it.
I don't really know anything about computers, and I'm just at a loss as to what my next step should be to try and resolve this issue. Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
I've tried to find all the details of the custom build, but the invoice didn't offer much info. Here's the best I could do:
Case- CM Storm Enforcer
Mobo is one of the following:
GA-B150M-D3H
GA-B150M-D3H-GSM
GA-B150M-D3H DDR3
CPU- Intel Skylake I7 6700 Quad Core 3.4Ghz
GPU- Nvidia GTX960
RAM- 8G Gaming DDR4 RAM (HyperX)
PSU- Zalman ZM600-GV
Thank you
