My PC BSODS when launching windows 7 and when trying to boot into safe mode. I got a new MoBo today and windows would just fail to start.

I don't have my windows 7 key anymore. Any help would be appreciated

Solution
Yes, it did. I'd use the cables that came with the drive, but that shouldn't be the issue unless the cable is bad. I meant the actual port that the cable plugs into on the motherboard. What color is that?

I got a new board because my old cpu died and was in need of an upgrade anyways

Old specs was a trash ASUS mobo with a 2.5 GHZ phenom II x6 8gb ram and a GTX 560

Now I have an Msi 970 MoBo with an FX8320 at 4.0 GHZ same RAM & same gpu

AMD to AMD shouldn't be a BIG change, so I'd think the chipset drivers would be similar enough to boot, especially in safe mode, without a reinstall. Sometimes you just never know though. What model is the new motherboard and what color are the SATA headers you have the drive connected to?

It doesn't look like there are any secondary SATA headers on there so it probably doesn't matter, but depending on where you're connected, I'd try moving to one of the other headers to the right or to the left of where you're currently connected. Don't just move it up or down since it's likely to be the same controller.

Sorry I'm using my phone right now and it's messing up real bad, didn't mean to choose your answer as the solution lol. The headers are black on my MoBo and right now I have them connected top to bottom I'll try moving them around
