I am going to build a gaming computer and I have been doing research for about a year now and I am looking at buy anytime now and I need a high end components that can run games like GTA 5 at high settings I already have a case picked out the Fractal Design Define S with Window Side Panel . I don't need a OS, an optical drive or any of the peripherals. A SSD is a must. I would also like it to be able to stream and play at the same time on high settings. I would also like choices between AMD and Intel because i do not know what is better and what the differences between the 2. Thanks for the help.

The water cooling element doesn't need to be factored in, that's true. But there's no sense in buying a locked CPU + H1XX motherboard, if you won't be able to OC. The 'K' CPU is at least another +$40 over what's suggested so far, and a capable Z170 board to allow that OC is likely at least another $50.

On top of that, the 'K' CPU's won't come with a stock cooler, so you're looking at a minimum $35 for a somewhat decent cooler to tide you over until liquid cooling. All in all, you're likely looking at another $150 or so to achieve a build suitable to OC in future....

Or, you could buy a locked CPU + H1XX board and replace in future....but that seems counter-productive.

This is the cheapest I can do without compromise. If you want it under $800, I guess you'd have to start by cutting the SSD.

EDIT: Forgot about the Fractal Design Define S, but this is honestly worth the extra $50-100. GTX 1070 releases in a few days and will outperform GTX 970/R9 390

Appreciating the R9 390 puts you a tiny bit over budget, but it's a worthwhile step up from the R9 380.

A GTX1070 is a good call, but a $400 MSRP may be difficult to squeeze into an $850 budget.

He specifically wants a Fractal Design Define S

"the" build does not take into account the OP's case preference, provides a low quality SSD, single channel RAM & a not particularly good PSU....

A GTX1070 is likely a difficult inclusion, considering the cost will be half of the budget.....but it's close if the OP is willing to make some conscessions.

As he has the case so no need to include it
Sorry missed it out before

The OP says no need for an OS, optical drive or peripherals - I'm not reading that they already have the case, just that they've identified the case they do want...

You're still suggesting a poor SSD and low(er) quality PSU...

I read that as "I want to use the FD S" (ie still need to buy, therefor needs to be factored into the budget).
Could be wrong though. The OP would need to clarify.

Ok, so we need to factor in a ~$75 case, that's fine.

What exactly are you looking to water cool? If you plan to have a full liquid cooling setup, I assume you likely have a desire to overclock too? I could be wrong, but figured we should check.

Water cooling seems a bit of wasted effort on a locked CPU etc. If you do want to OC, we need to revise these builds to components suited for it........and that's likely going to blow your $850 budget...

The water cooling element doesn't need to be factored in, that's true. But there's no sense in buying a locked CPU + H1XX motherboard, if you won't be able to OC.
