PC Build Advice

Hello everyone,

I am looking to get a new PC built in the next few months, and have a budget of around £2,000 (inc VAT.) I know enough about computers to be dangerous, but don't know enough about things like power-requirements, to go ahead without gaining some additional knowledge (and actual people ALWAYS beat online build sites and the like.)

I opted for a lot of RAM having struggled with a lot of very slow computers, and besides it is within my means; and the motherboard & graphics card require DDR4 RAM.

I opted for HDD over SSD overall since I want a lot of storage capacity. The SSD will be used for the OS and perhaps a few games.

Everything is matched to run the games that I am interested in on high settings as per Game Debate (games include Squadron 42, XCOM 2, etc.)

I am not certain about power requirements for the above set-up; though the builder's site usually notifies me if something is not compatible at all.

Any help would be great.

Replace the PSU, that CM model is not of good quality.
You will want a Tier 1 or 2 unit, EVGA, Seasonic and Antec make some really nice ones:

The last thing you want to do is cheap out on the PSU, a faulty one can take out all the other parts.

That seems like a pre-built PC. I'm seeing a whole lot of wasted money in there. Buy your own parts and build it yourself and you'll save hundreds of $$$.

Hi CTurbo, I realise that PC Builders will use components that are not necessarily at the best price, and will include a decent mark-up but I do not feel that I am not knowledgable enough, or confident enough to build my own, and would rather leave it in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing (and can be held accountable should the need arise.) I understand and acknowledge that I will be paying more overall.

Yeah, 650w should be plenty. The new GPU's are very efficient and the CPU's don't take much. 650w should even leave you a little room for upgrade, though I don't think enough to add another GPU (should you ever opt to try it).

That 650w Seasonic will handle any single video card you can throw at it.
