I'm quite new to pc gaming and i'm looking to get one built, would anyone have any suggestions?

1050Ti ain't great. That's medium to medium-low settings at 1080p resolution to achieve 60fps

No SSD is unfortunate

Corsair CV series are low quality

Where are you buying this from? How much does it cost?

What monitor?

Hi thanks for getting back to me with those tips, that was a quote i found from PC specialist in the uk. The quoted price was £582 before vat. I wouldnt be doing anything too heavy duty but would like to have decent graphics and speed on a reasonable variety of games.

I see. So what is your total system budget? Do you need to buy a monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers/headphones/etc? Of so, which ones do you not own?

Have you checked your build/price against other places, like CyberpowerPC, or Scan.co?

Dead platform, slow ram, 1050ti, and a low quality psu. I would avoid. This would be a better, and at least have some upgrade potential.

If you need a new system right now and the CPU is available, I would argue in favor of an i5-10400F with 6 cores 12 threads over the 10100f with 4c8t. It's a bit more expensive than the 9400F 6c6t, but the extra threads on the 10400f will make it last longer before needing an upgrade in the future. Then again, a cheaper system would leave more money for a better system in the future. The ram speed is still an issue, with it being artificially held back by Intel at 2666MT/s without a Z series overclocking motherboard.

Counterpoint, since the i3 is plenty competent at 4c/8t, a future upgrade to an i7 would be a more significant jump and extend the useful life whereas an i5 is more likely to be the end of the road.

I'm not so sure an i7 is worth the cost later without having a Z series motherboard already for memory overclocking. If I were spending the money, I'd be looking to get a 6 core 12 thread CPU that would last up to 4 years before feeling like I'd need an upgrade. If the i5 is out of my price range, I would instead try to spend as little money as possible for a decent system now with the i3 10100f and then in 2-3 years upgrade to a platform capable of using much faster ram and a faster CPU with 6-8 cores/12-16threads.

Which is exactly my counterpoint to your i5 recommendation. At least we agree. Don't get me wrong, an i5 is still going to be better than an i3, so we agree on both sides!

Sure, a Z-series board gives you mem overclocking, but Intel isn't as sensitive to needing high memory speeds as AMD. Also, 10th gen i3 and i5 Intel CPUs support DDR4-2666, which is...fine. Secondly, we're talking about pre-built machines here. That's pretty commonly going to get you the cheapest possible mobo (lucky if you even get 4 ram slots) so Z-series is going to be pretty hard to come by unless shopping with/from a boutique builder that allows you to select/customize individual parts, ESPECIALLY at this price point (you're talking about the mobo alone making up nearly 1/4 of the total budget)
