Hi there guys,
So I've decided to build a PC... With the help of someone who can actually build PCs.

Any way this is what we have decided on so far... But it's a tiny bit over budget, does anyone have any tips or suggestions or improvements etc?

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Motherboard - Intel Z87, Socket 1150
SSD: SanDisk 256GB SSD SATA 6Gb/s
Graphics Card: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card with Boost
Case: Antec One Midi Tower Case
PSU: 750W Corsair CX750M, Hybrid Modular, 80 PLUS Bronze, 1x140mm, ATX, PSU
CPU: Intel 4th Generation Core i5 (4590) 3.3GHz Quad Core Processor 6MB L3 Cache
RAM: Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) Memory RAM DDR3 Vengeance 1600MHz 240-pin DIMM CL10

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Oops sorry I left some info out of that post, here it is again:

Here is a different build I have made, it's also a little overbudget but I assure you it's well worth it, it's £640 but will perform MUCH better than your original build, if you really need to keep it under budget you can change the SSD to a smaller one.
Personally I don't know a lot about MSI motherboards so if somebody could suggest a MSI mobo that's not for overclocking, that would be great!
I will just run through the improvements over your original build here:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£152.99 @ Aria PC) - More powerful than your CPU
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£24.25 @ Scan.co.uk) - Will keep CPU cooler and be much more quiet than stock cooler.
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£63.56 @ Scan.co.uk) - This is just a stand in till I find a better mobo.
Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£60.02 @ Amazon UK) - Higher performance RAM, I really doubt you will use more than 8GB but if you do, you can always add in another 2 sticks later.
Storage: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£81.23 @ Amazon UK) - Similar to your choice but cheaper for the same sort of speed and storage.
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£164.74 @ Scan.co.uk) - Quite a lot better than the R9 270x, will perform lots better in games.
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case (£53.76 @ CCL Computers) - Similar case, choose whichever you prefer or is cheaper.
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£44.11 @ CCL Computers) - Much cheaper and more suitable PSU, 750W is waaaaaaay overkill for this build
Total: £644.66

Also, are you sure you don't want a HDD? Just an SSD?

I've already got a HDD that I'm going to put in there, and everyone keeps raving about SSDs so I want to see what the fuss is about! And thanks again looks good!

Taking moozilbee's build (which was pretty good), add piesang's motherboard, lower the SSD size and change the r9 280 from msi's twin frozr to asus' direct cuii...

Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£60.02 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£52.94 @ Aria PC)

the xfx 550w is indeed plenty for this build :)

Still a little over budget but I don't want to change anything. You could drop to a 270x on the graphics card and save £40 but the extra power of the 280 (plus the extra vram) gives it more longevity.

LucoTF's build is best so far, the SSD is up to you, I would recommend a 240GB but if you really want to keep under budget then a 120GB is fine.
Only thing, I would say get a Crucial MX100 SSD rather than a Crucial M500 SSD, I believe they perform better (might be wrong) for about the same price.

Solution

1) I think you need a Z97 to run a 4th gen i5 procesor.
2) I would go with a higher quality power supply such as an XFX or Seasonic power supply; a 650W/620W power supply should suffice.
3) I would just get 2x4GB since 16GB isn't needed depending on your goal.

Thanks everyone for the help! This is all great, I'll probably hit up LucoTF's build. I'm going to look into a 240 Gb solid state though... I know it'll push me a bit over but I think that's okay, I'd rather have the extra storage than regret it later!

Cheers everyone!

Or just do this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£152.99 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Asus H97M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£70.14 @ PC World Business)
Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£60.38 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£52.94 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£36.00 @ Aria PC)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB Double Dissipation Video Card (£129.92 @ Scan.co.uk)
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case (£53.76 @ CCL Computers)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£43.56 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £599.69
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Change the r9 280 to a 270x (still a great card), and put the money saved on 1tb of storage :)

Thanks again! Although I already have a 1tb harddrive, but I want to have a SSD to run all my work on nice and quickly. but good shout on the graphics card, I had already thought of putting in the 270x. Cheers :)
