PC Build Information

I am thinking of building a computer, but don't know what to do really, it's my first time. I was thinking for a CPU either an Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5 GHz or an AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz. I was wondering what parts could complete the build, like what GPU? I know I want probably 8 or 12 GB RAM, I wanted a pretty bulky computer for intense games at medium to high settings. I was thinking for a GPU either an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, or an AMD Radeon R9 270. I am not that great with this yet, so please bear with any dumb statements. Thank you.

My preferences from your list would be to pair that i5 core with a Z board to enable overclocking. Get a CPU cooler as well. Pair that CPU with a GTX 970 and get 8 GB of RAM. No need for 12 GB of RAM.

heres a good build

gtx 960
amd 6 or 8 core cpu(6 core would be fine but 8 cores would help a bit in games that use that many cores, also a little higher clocked, but a 6 core amd is a lot cheaper)
8 gig ram
