Hello I am new to pc building, I am trying to get a good gaming build that can also be used to record and make videos.

Below is important Info that I think is helpful

  • Budget is around $300-400 if possible CAN GO HIGHER
  • PC will be used for GAMING and Recording/Making Videos at least at 1080p 60FPS
  • I do not need to buy any Monitors or mice, etc. I have these items
  • Don't need a OS/ Will be using Windows I have it.
  • I can buy off of, Amazon / Best Buy / Newegg
  • I am in the USA
  • Would like to get a AMD CPU
  • Monitor Resolution will be mainly 1080p
Below is my current items for this build

GPU : MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 Video Card RTX 3060 Gaming X 12G
CPU : DO NOT HAVE ONE (I think a Ryzen 5 5600 would go good with this? Let me know what you think)
RAM : Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 Desktop Memory - Black
PSU : DO NOT HAVE ONE (I have no idea how much WAT PSU I will need, from what I have seen I will need one that is over 550WAT, let me know what you think)
MOBO : DO NOT HAVE ONE ( Once again, I dont really know on this I do know that it needs to the right gen so I can use my CPU and that my ram needs to be able to support it)
CASE : DO NOT HAVE ONE (I have no idea on this one, let me know please)
STORAGE : I have two HHD's that have 2tbs on them, so in total I have 4tb's for HHDs. I know I need to switch to SSDs but for now I would like to stick with these to save some money for now.

If you need more info please let me know, I tried to figure this out on my own but I'm running into issues and I really don't know what to do, if you could help I would really appreciate it. (I got the gpu at a Pawn Shop for $300 if your wandering, yes it's real it was tested everything works perfect on it)

EDIT : This is what I have so far : BUILDHERE

I am sorry looking back I see where you think that. I was talking about my CPU, that is something I can get answered on this site as well.

I just have one more concern and that is the PSU, I looked into the ones you told m about and this was seems good and it is close to my price range
Corsair RMx (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

My questions about it are even if it has more WATT room for it is it safe to still use?
And from what I see this PSU should be more then enough for me right?

Yes.

Right.
You want to buy 4 pieces.

I think that video card is about 170 or 200 watts max.

Modest case; 75;

Decent 500 to 600 watt PSU; 100

Motherboard; perhaps as low as 125

Leaving 100 for CPU;

I'd try to think more in the 500 to 600 bracket if possible.

Yeah after looking at parts it seems I will have to spend more money, my friend offered to give me his mobo he got a new one, it is a
MSI Arsenal Gaming AMD Ryzen 1st and 2ND Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 DVI HDMI Micro-ATX Motherboard (B450M Bazooka V2)

And he just told me as well he could hook me up with a case it is a
Fractal Design Meshify C Black ATX High-Airflow Compact Light Tint Tempered Glass Mid Tower Computer Case, FD-CA-MESH-C-BKO-TGL

so that would help me out that would leave me just having to get a PSU / CPU that would save me some money, my only thing it I have no idea if a amd cpu would work with it or not, from what I see with this case and mobo it should fit in that case with everything I have so far and my GPU should get in it. My only issue would be not knowing if my cpu would work with it. (the one im trying to figure out to buy)

I don't see a CPU cooler in your list of what you already have.

So.....you'd have to get a CPU that included a cooler and use it.

That's certainly possible. Some CPUs include coolers and some don't.

Or buy a better cooler if necessary; which would add maybe 30 to 60 to your budget.

Sorry I completely forgot to add it I got one at best buy it is called a
Cooler Master - Hyper 212 Black Edition 120mm

I'm not slick on AMD stuff, so let others comment on your CPU/motherboad combination.

If a friend is supplying some of your parts, that knocks your expenses way down....if the parts are in good shape and work fine.

General rule....get as strong a CPU as you can afford. It's still the most important part of a build.

The Fractal is a good case.

Cooler Master 212 is an old standby and likely good enough...you have to confirm it is compatible with the rest of your parts. But it's likely to be powerful enough for a build at your budget level.
I looked it up and it should fit there should be no issues as to where it would be placed on the mobo. Do you have any idea what kind of PSU I should go for?

You'll get lots of PSU help here.

Good brands generally, but you need to list the model names and numbers of any candidates:

Seasonic, Corsair, some EVGA....off the top of my head.

There's a jillion of them you DON'T want to buy, so be careful.

Shouldn't need over 550 watts; conceivably higher if your budget allows you to jump higher on the CPU tree, thanks to your friend supplying those other parts.

Yeah, he came in clutch for me he did said I must play Fortnite with him though so I'll have to throw up every so often lol.
I was told to watch out for that as well I will most likely stick to Corsair PSU so you think I can do just fine with a 550wat?

Do you think this would work? Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

You'll see "full modular" and "semi-modular" power supplies.

I wouldn't be in a panic to get "full modular". Semi is fine if all other things are equal and it might save you 10 or 20 bucks.
Do you think this would work? Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply it is non mod comes all together

Look for Corsair RMx series or Seasonic Focus GM or GX series near 550 watts and up to maybe 125 in price.
the only one close seems to be this Corsair RMx (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
its about $135 which is fine by me but there is a lot of WATT here would it be good to still get it if I plan on getting like a Ryzen 7 series?

I'd certainly think so.

List all the new parts you personally have to buy, with prices.

List all the other parts you already have or don't have to pay for

Let others try to shoot holes in your list.

I'm not much use on strictly AMD or strictly gaming stuff, so more eyes might help you.

I only need a PSU and a CPU at this point below is my list for what I have and dont have

WHAT I HAVE: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bK6Mcb

WHAT I DON'T HAVE: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Lg9PTJ

Let me know if I made a error

My harddrives are not included cause I have no idea the make and model of them, do they affect WATT a great deal?

I would DEFINITELY get at least one SSD...for Windows and apps if nothing else. Your first post says you have only HDDs. Get off that, even if you have to cut back somewhere else a bit. Could be a small SSD. 250 or 500 GB.

You need to confirm that RAM is compatible with that motherboard.

Entirely possible it is.

Have you looked at the motherboard qualified memory list at MSI web site?

Some might tell you to nudge up the cooler a notch or two since your budget may allow it. Probably not a big deal.

Entirely possible you can put more powerful AMD CPUs in that motherboard if you r budget allows. I have no idea. Ask others.

That is my problem is I need a lot of storage for my games, software, etc. I could at least get one to use to put my windows on would that be a good idea? I see that I can but from what it looks like is I might need to do something called a bios update it sounds scary lol. Any advice on that?

edit : The ram will work!
edit 2 : The mobo can take up to 64gb of ram so this should work?

Re BIOS update; I doubt it, but could be. What is your source for that information? Specifically.

Re RAM; very few people need 32 let alone 64 or more; I don't see a problem with amount.

I've just heard it before for example, The mobo says "Ryzen 1st and 2ND Gen" And I wanted to at least get a Ryzen 5 5600x, doesn't that mean I need a bios update?

Your post 20 implies that you thought a BIOS update was required for SSD.

Apparently you mean it might be required for your CPU.

I doubted that a BIOS update was needed for SSD.

I don't have the slightest idea if a BIOS update is needed for CPU.

You need confirmation from reliable sources. I know little about AMD.

Ask others.
