Hello all, New to the community any help would be great

I am looking to build a new gaming/ multi use home theater pc and also using as a media server

I really like this case and it will work well with my componets

Cool Master HAF gamers case. mx43201

Also looking at an I7 cpu but I am flexable and a good vid card(not the best)

I already have a soundblaster Zr which is in my current unit, I purchased something that I could use in a new build


I also want this thing to be usable for 5 years at least.

oh wow, thanks guys, Ill start looking into this stuff for sure

Would heading in with a better MOBO be a benifit, I was looking at the asus rampage Mobos

Also is 16 good or run 32?

And as lame as this may sound, why 2 HDD, my guess is putting the OS on the ssd?

Again, im way behind the times lol, and am just starting my research, any help is great

Os, games, main programs on ssd and use the hdd for everything else.
You don't meet the H100i the Cooler Master Hyper 212Evo is good and you can still over clock with it pretty good and it is quieter then the H100i.
16 is just fine for gaming 8 would even be good for gaming but I like the concept "more is better" lol.
If you are going to do any video editing or 3d rendering then 32 would be the better choice.
And you don't have to have such a expencive mobo unless you have the extra cash and just can't live without it lol.
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO newegg about $200
ASRock Z87 Extreme6 newegg about $160
For ram I would go with G.Skill Ares Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($315.98 @ Newegg) really good if you plan on over clocking.
And might go for a 800+ psu for future sli.
The 2 tb hdd's are known to last longer then the 3 tb.
This would be good Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($84.00 @ Amazon).
For optical drive the LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($59.99 @ B&H).
And if you have enough left go for the PNY GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card ($494.98 @ Best Buy).
Pny has a lifetime warranty.
