PC build problems

im 13 and was looking for a way to build a cheap pc because i dont get any money until the place i work during the summer opens up. I boght a geforce gtx1050 and a corsair 750 power supple and put them into a really old system (2002-2005) i think and the when i plugged it all up my moniter would flicker and then say no signal. It does this every time i plug in the hdmi or vga cable. Are the parts not compatible?(im new to pc building so if i sound like an idiot then im sorry)

Nvidia dropped support for older bios with their latest cards (geforce 9 and 10 series). So no they aren't compatible.

you put a new gpu in a 15 year old pc? nope wont work.
