Hi all,

I have been picking out parts for my new gaming build and i need a more tech savvy opinion on my selected components.

Components:

AMD FX 8350
MSI AMD 970 motherboard
Crucial bx100 240gb SSD
2x4gb of HyperX 1866mhz RAM
2TB 7200rpm seagate hard drive
PALit gtx 960 4gb GDDR5
Cryorig h7 cpu cooler
Coolermaster G750m psu
Corsair carbide spec-01 case
3 120mm fans, 2 of which are blue led

Any suggestions or opinions on the build are much appreciated, thanks.

most of the time, it merely ties an i3 in gaming. i'd even go as far as to say that the i3 is a much better choice for gaming than an 8350 by the virtue of having the same gaming performance for less power draw.

as for the OP, just get a cheap i5 and an r9 380. much better than the gtx 960 most of the time.

I would say the best reason to go with an i3 vs the 8350 assuming you cant afford the i5 is just the upgrade path, you will be on LGA 1150 or 1151 if you go skylake so there is plenty of room to grow without spending a fortune. When I finally decide to upgrade I will have to buy a new mobo and cpu.

I should've already said but, I have the case, the RAM and hard drive already. So they can be taken off and put in another area. Probably an ssd if possible. Cheers

Well your ram wouldn't work in that build its skylake so it uses DDR4 ram. But if you already have ddr3 ram it might be better in a price to performance sense to just go with haswell as skylake doesn't perform a whole lot better in gaming anyways.

Here it is with a 960 4gb you could afford a 380 or 380x if you want to go AMD: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/KMpqK8

That RAM is fine, Intel has always been very conservative with their memory recommendations. It will support 1866 and even quite a bit higher than that. The motherboard may set the ram to 1600mhz by default but all you have to do is go into your BIOS and enable XMP mode this will set your ram to run at its advertised speeds. That power supply isn't something I would normally recommend the 600b's perform okay but they are cheaply built I will link a thread below discussing this. Anyway you could spend a bit more on your power supply?

Which EVGA 750watt is that? There are several different editions. What would be your max budget for a power supply?

Hello again, its been a very busy few months(moving house)and i decided to look over my build choices again. I've spent a couple of weeks looking at reviews of each component and have finally come up with a build that i like. But, i am in need of a second opinion to see where i can improve upon. Thanks :)
