About a year ago I built the following pc with budget in mind but keeping room to grow a little:
intel g4560
currently running integrated graphics
h270m pro motherboard
2x4 GB DDR4 RAM

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on it and my wife has recently picked up video editing. She chose to use Openshot but the video playback is jerky in the editor I'm looking into it to see if it's an openshot problem, but it got me thinking about the hardware I'm runnning.

Video is mostly phone footage, but she is also editing still shots from a dslr so i'm not entirely sure what resolution the videos are in.

Typically, is this build fine for video editing? I was wondering if it's time to get a GPU or add more ram. Are there any opinions on the CPU itself?

Solution
I would suggest upping to a 4-core CPU, at least 8 more GB of Ram, and a real GPU (I'll recommend AMD as it seems to have slightly better drvers in Linux)

If I wasn't ready to upgrade CPU yet, would there by anything worthwhile to do right now?
