I am building a new pc and have picked out current parts but I'm not sure if my money is going into the right things and If there are improvements I could make to the list before I pull the trigger on it. Spend less on a case,more on a powersupply.500W just isnt enough for this build and future upgrades,especially if u want to upgrade to the new RTX 3000 series or Radeon RX6000 series graphics card,which are really power hungry.I edited ur build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/CB7fPV
Even added a really good cooler for the cpu.
Edit:Even came out cheaper,and you can always buy rgb strips for like 10$

its a pretty solid build

the only thing i would recomend would be for your to go with a psu with a bit more bite.
my system, which is slightly lower specs than your has a standing power draw of about 450w.

If you plan on hooking up additional hdd's or case fans or additional hdd's you probably gonna be pushing the limits of what your psu can safely handel.

Take my advice and spend a few extra bucks on the psu - i cheaped out on it then had to buy another one less than a year later when i added a few extra hdd's.

600- 650 watts will keep you comfy for a good long while
