Hey i just purchased a long hdmi cable to connect my pc to the living room TV and nothing happens when i connect both of them.
The TV just says no signal and the pc doesn't pop anything up when plugged.
I tried both the motherboard and GPU hdmi ports to no success.
any idea what could be the problem and how to fix it?
also another clue is when scrolling through the tv sources it says Video 6(HDMI) and Computer(VGA).
does it implies that it only supports VGA or does the HDMI port should work regardless of this?
really confused about this topic and really frustrated about spending money on a long cable only for it to not work.

Solution
can u try that cable with another tv/pc/settopbox/anthing hdmi capable?
Hdmi cable itself has built in device detect pin, it also sends 5volts to TV, where it powers up small chip with TV capabilities.
so..try if that cable even works as your gpu doesnt get tv info

tried both of those methods and changing to duplicate screen and all the other options there does nothing while the gpu driver settings doesn't show any other screen beside my pc monitor.
