Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right section for this kind of question, but what software do you recommend for keeping your PC clean? I have just built a new one and I'm trying to keep it tidy and get rid of possibly anything I do not need (you can also leave suggestions on what this could be). Thanks

Standard answer would probably be to not use any third party software.....other than perhaps a malware/anti-virus if you don't want to just rely on a Microsoft product. Malwarebytes is often mentioned.

Years ago, third party cleaners like CCleaner were commonly recommended, but they seem to have fallen out of favor a bit.....although lots of people still use them. Lots of frowning if you use the registry cleaner portion.

Standard Windows built-in cleaner would be Disk Cleanup. I run it at least once a month. It has a bunch of checkboxes to include different categories.

Some people are quite obsessive over cleaning, so the sky is the limit if you can't help yourself....irrespective of any noticeable performance improvement. I'm only mid-level obsessive (I don't check door locks 10 times a day), so I don't clean as often as some.

Performance improvement from "cleaning" is likely to be hard to detect as long as you have enough free space on the drive and don't have malware/viruses of any type.

I am aghast at how bloated, aggressive and malware-like Malwarebytes has become. It's as obtrusive as it can be and it really doesn't want you to uninstall it.

However, it is an excellent tool for cleaning and security. Maybe the 3.8.3 version that is still available is a better choice. It's free like the latest version, just much less parasitic.

Another tool worth trying is Glary Utilities. It has stuff like registry cleaning that is more trouble than it's worth but it's an ok toolset otherwise. Disk analysis is nice. If you like pie charts.

Not cleaning tools, but Windows Firewall Controll and simplewall can be used to allow/deny internet access to applications. This can prevent malware from connecting outside your PC, or give it away when it tries.
It can also force apps to stay on a current version without auto-updating themselves.
It's more challenging or annoying to setup but helps keep a computer secure.

Assume any cleaning tool is going to make a mess so you want a complete backup before you run the tool.

Just a few tools to look at.
Disk cleanup.....built into windows.
Ccleaner.
Revo uninstaller.

I'm sure there are others.
