I have motherboard Q45 with socket LGA775 currently E6300 attached 1.86GHZ .I want to know that is quad core Q9550 compatibly with that motherboard. I searched that it supports that processor but i'm just I a confusion as Q9550 isn't available in my country and I have to ship it. Just don't know about these computers . help is appreciated.

Solution
In theory, yes the Q35 can support the Q9650, but for the HP OEM computer, if they did not provide the BIOS, then who knows until you try it on.

The hd5450 drew less power, but after I double check you may use the single slot low profile type r7 240 with the 240W PSU. Keep in mind I did it on paper, so I am sorry I don't know you can or can not use it with that MB/PSU.

And you may try 1) update the MB BIOS, if the MB does not have the newer one. 2) Boot into the BIOS to see you can find the section to disable "Secure Boot", enable "Legacy Boot" or not, because in case if the PC doesn't boot when you install the r7 240, if you use win8 or win10. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653200 3) If you can't find that feature, just...

Ok sorry so I have a q35 chipset LGA 775 along with hp dc7800 form factor . can i put q9650 in it . also suggest me a 500gb hdd and will r7 240 2gb ddr3 GPU work and will be I needing a higher PSU? Idk the model your talking about btw I searched it on internet and found it supports but just in a confusion want to confirm it from an expert.

THANKS in advance .

From one HP support forem, you can find the specifications ( from the 2nd posted). https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Compaq-dc7800-Small-Form-Factor-PC-Specifications/td-p/5925724 Even they did not list the Q9650, but the Q9550 is in the list. So you should be able to use the Q9650, both of cpu have the same TDP 95w and the FBS ( front-side bus )1333mhz, keep in mind you are better to check your MB has newer version BIOS or not.

And one thing you need to know, the PC is the small form factor, it has the 240W PSU, and you can't use the regular GPU, like the r7 240, it needs a 400W PSU to power up. Also you need the single slot low profile GPU. If you don't upgrade the PSU you are hard to find the good one, when you buy the new PSU ( not the regular ATX format, you need the TFX12V format PSU), then you can add the single slot low profile GPU into your HP.

One more if you use win8 or win10, when you add the non OEM GPU you need to read the HP support info for adding the nonOEM GPU into the HP computer. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653200

And for the HDD, any 7200rpm SATAIII HDD should be fine.
