So, to make it clear, space engineers is not the most heat-making game on my PC nor is this issue replicated in other games. It happens on planets mode or space mode, and is extremely random and isolated. So, twice in the 3 months I have had my PC, it has done something during space engineers that the entire screen and cursor gets laggy and then freezes seemingly indefinitely.
Did not respond to front panel buttons although not sure if I pressed them correctly. Does not shut down when it does it so I doubt a power problem (system max use is 290w; I have 80+ gold 550w) and requires using switch on PSU to turn off. Issue not present for any other game including battlefront 3 which is the hottest running game on my PC. Seems to have only happened when I was multi tasking I.e first time I was downloading ARK in the background, second time I was skyping and got off the game to google. It's totally random, could be a hot day and I play for 3 hours no issue, or could happen after an immediate world load. No pattern.
Any ideas? Oh and yes I have mods.

UPDATE: Ran the rig through 3Dmark firestrike and 3Dmark sydiver- no freezes, crashes, blue screens etc the whole time.
