hi,
I'm a graphic designer and I need to upgrade my pc to get a faster speed.
I work with large format file.
this is my current system.
I don't mind paying for something that can help me save time.
Please let me know what I can upgrade to get a faster speed.

did you overclock your 920 yet? free way to get more performance

id also overclock the video card but its not as much of a gain.


if you are looking for a rebuild, heres what i would do

-keep the power supply if its a decent brand such as from corsair or seasonic
-keep the ram. 1333mhz is still good
-cooler doesnt work since the mounting system from 1366 is different from 1155 sockets. unless you somehow have a set of 1156 mounting brackets
-you can still salvage the hard drives but i added a SSD boost system performance
-included a quadro card as its the GPU that does most of the graphical work.

and get the xeon. no overclocking but way cheaper than a i7 thats the same thing

why did you suggest PNY Quadro 4000 2GB Video Card? I don't do video.
I only work with adobe creative suite but mostly for print.
Do I really need to get a expensive graphic card?

quadro cards for graphical work in 3d environments. 2d should be about the same.

well a gaming card isnt the best for work as drivers are not designed for work. they will still do the job but will not be as good as the quadro counterparts

if you just want a video card and get things over, id get something like a 560ti or a gtx 660ti. 560ti for computing power and the 660ti for if you just need a lot of CUDA cores

What if I just overclock this PC? Do I Need to upgrade anything else to get faster speed?

Does it make any difference working with win vista or win7?

I'm also considering to build a new fast PC. Please give you suggestion.
