Hi guys, I just want to ask for help.

I've been having computer lag for all of the applications, I can play video games and surf internet but the performance of my computer has just slowed down.

Unlike before, when I'm playing DotA 2 and CSGO, my minimum fps is 80 and the maximum is 120, now it just dropped to 15-60 and the lag is so bad. While surfing and doing stuff are also lag like opening a web browser, it still takes a lot of time unlike before wherein I'll just wait for a few seconds and the processes are done. Everything I do is just so laggy, even when opening the computer itself, loading processes has just slowed down.

I asked an expert about how to solve the problem and he did some stuff on my laptop, he told me that the hard drive needs to be replaced and he told me that some processes are still being read by my hard drive even though it is not in use. It's Tuesday night here now and the computer expert and I will be replacing the hard drive on Friday.

I'm just in doubt if replacing the hard drive will fix these constant lags, freezes and slow performance, I just want an assurance that's why I'm asking it online, hoping to get fast feed backs, by the way these are some specs of my computer:
Processor = Corei5
Ram = 4GB
etc etc
I've been using this for about 3 years and it was doing well until the problem came so I think these lags are just a problem.

Again, hoping for a good and fast feed back from you guys. Any opinions would be appreciated and I hope you can help me.

Solution
run hdtune check smart info for errors. you can post the image here.
download ccleaner and run it.
run disk defrager from ccleaner.
malwarebyte and hitman pro.
do a free online anti virus sweep.
with windows sometime with age your better off backing your personal stuff up and doing a nuke (clean install/factory restore) of windows.
4g is a little low on ram. for the cheap money ram is add 4 more gigs if you can add it to the laptop.

Hours ago he showed me some stuff happening around my PC and it showed the performance of Disk C: and it says 100% and he told me that it was eating all of the memory and it is the one causing the lag, changing the hard drive can fix it he told me..

it can be some process software or virus too
use HDD disk utily to check if it has issues or not

A while ago as I can remember he checked my PC for a long period of time and I think he did some virus scanning also since he had some IT tools. The conclusion given to me was that it's really the hdd problem, I'm just in doubt but I am not saying he's wrong, I'm just worried that if we replace the hard drive, the problem still will not be solved. But I hope that if we do replace it, the PC will be back to its normal condition
