PC Crash during games under heavy load. PSU?

Hi, I have been experiencing PC crashed while playing more demanding games, GTA V Fallout 4 etc. Origanally I though the problem may have been the Northbridge as it was getting very hot, but after keeping it cool with a fan directly on it its stays cool but the PC continues to crash.

This has lead me to believe that it may be the PSU, it's a very cheap unknown PSU which is why I think it is the issue. Is there a way to test for this or is it best to just get a new reliable PSU?

Its best since its a cheap unknown PSU to just go ahead and replace it rather safe then sorry because it could go down and take the rest of the system with it .... So yes for peace of mind I would replace it.

Right, that's what I am going to do, will 500W be enough for my system ( GTX 760, AMD FX-4170)?

Yes a good 500 watt should be.

Went with an EVGA 500B which seems to have solved the issue, thanks.
