Question PC Crash Whitescreen - GPU faulty/outdated? How to test?

Hi,

I've been having this problem the last few weeks where I'll be playing a game (VALORANT/Overwatch/Minecraft) and my PC will just whitescreen and I have to press the power button to turn it on/off. It'll work for a while but then after playing a while it'll happen again. I have a pretty old GPU, a GTX 980, and I'm thinking it's probably the problem. Does that sound right? I can list other specs if needed. How should I check to see if my GPU is the problem?

i7 5820K 3.30GHz, ASUS X99-A motherboard, Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 850W TPG-850AH3FCG PSU, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, GTX 980 GPU, running Windows 10. Thank you for the response!!

Follow up - anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any advice as I'd really prefer not to have to replace my GPU, but if I have to I can.
