Hello, I recently built a new pc, installed Windows 10, and booted the thing up. It was running fine for a few minutes and I started to download some programs. I got steam, discord, and a few other necessary programs installed when suddenly I get a blue error screen saying my pc crashed. It gave my some specific error but I don't quite remember what it was, it had watchdog in the name. I then restarted and looked it up. Evidently it has something to do with bios and that updating your bios should fix the issue. So I went to my motherboard manufacturers website (Gigabyte) And downloaded the @BIOS program. I then followed the steps that it gave me and proceeded to update my BIOS. during the update process I got a blue screen error, unfortunately it only stayed on the screen for a few seconds and I didn't catch what error it was. After the crash my pc will power on, but the screen stays blank and my mouse and keyboard don't light up. I have tried resetting the CMOS but nothing seemed to help.
System specs: AMD Ryzen 5 1600x. Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3. AMD RX 480 4gb. Team group elite+ 16gb 2400 ddr4. Thanks in advance.

While you can update a BIOS from a program through Windows it’s advised that you do it through the BIOS itself to avoid something like this from happening.

Worst case scenario is that your BIOS is corrupted and, thus, so is your motherboard. I would try doing another CMOS reset by unplugging the PC from the wall and removing the CMOS battery. Press the power button and hold it for about 15 seconds and then let it go. Reinsert the battery and plug in the PC and attempt to boot. When you boot just ensure you have any USB devices unplugged besides your mouse and keyboard.

If you still cannot boot then try moving RAM sticks around to different slots or using a single stick.

If you are still stuck with no POST then it’s time to contact Gigabyte for a replacement. I would explain that I was using their program to update the BIOS when it crashed and bricked the motherboard. Push for a free replacement.

Thank you for your response. Even though none of the fixes worked it pushed me on to try other things. I was able to start the dual bios feature by holding down the power and reset buttons.
