PC crashed - won't start up

Hey guys.

I was using windows explorer and clicked on one of my drives and the PC crashed. Couldn't do anything. I left it for half an hour and still nothing. Rebooted it and it goes through the usual screens but then fails to boot up. I get a black screen with one line of jibberish - letters and random symbols.

I can go into the BIOS and all my hard drives seem to be there so I'm not sure if any have crashed or if it's something else.

Any ideas?

may help try boot in to safe mode.

Thanks for your post. I tried tapping F8 for safe mode. It gives me an option of which disk I wish to boot from. I choose my main drive and then just does the same. No safe mode.

Any other ideas?

after your choose HHD.you need repeat hitting F8 again you then you get choises to boot to safe mode.

Tried again to get in Safe Mode, but no luck. At a loss now :-/

Your pc crashed cause you willingly used windows explorer.

might be your hhd?? boot up windows from something else, go through your motherboard and check if ur cpu is all good and connected.

I installed Linux on a USB. Booted fine and was able to copy all my data from the HDD. Then just reinstalled Windows. All done. Thanks chaps.
