Hi all,

Posting on behalf of a friends PC, have a really strange issue reoccurring.

First began gaming when the PC suddenly shut off and attempted to restart and gave the attached BSOD, hinting it couldn’t find windows/ the SSD.

Assuming the SSD just failed , he reinstalled windows onto his also connected HDD and got the PC running again, the SSD had wiped itself. After about an hour of reinstalling his stuff,(PC FULLY FUNCTIONAL) the PC again crashed with the same BSOD.

He attempted using windows repair via a CD and it stated there was no windows installation detected (as the drive appears to wipe itself every time) and when the windows installation shows up the connected drives, the SSD shows up but shows empty. (Very strange). Which makes it appear to have wiped…

Next step was disconnecting the SSD and HDD and buying a new SSD. Connected it up and installed windows via the disk, not long until the PC once again crashed, gave the BSOD and lost windows.

Has anyone any idea what kind of issue this is? Hardware? (SSD was replaced)

thank you

What make/model motherboard is it?

take all drives out except new ssd, don't just disconnect them.
try installing windows on new ssd again, see if you get same error.

it seems unlikely you get the same error on 3 different drives. But if he left the failed ssd in the first time and installed to hdd, its possible windows saw the boot partition on the ssd and added itself to it. Then when you got error again, it was caused by the old ssd still.

windows can't wipe itself on a bsod.
