Hello all, I have a build which is about a year and three months old.

MSI Gaming 5 - MOBO
Intel i5-4590 @ 3.30GHz w/ stock cooler - CPU
Sapphire R9 290 - GFX
G.Skill Ripjaw X 2x8GB - RAM
ThermalTake ToughPower 750W 80+ Gold - PSU
Windows 10

Roughly two months ago I began having issues while joining a CSGO game. During the loading screen to join the game, (after the lobby) my PC will fully crash and shut down.

I cleaned it out the case and components with compressed air, reseated the CMOS, used different RAM slots and verifying each RAM stick. New thermal paste, and reseated the GPU.
I've also checked my temps in game, and my CPU is 155 degrees fahrenheit or lower, and my GPU is 135 degrees fahrenheit or lower.

This problem does not happen under normal use, no hardware is overclocked.
It will work sometimes, and other times it won't. I'll be able to join a game at random, but it is not at a determined schedule or reason as far as I've been able to tell.

I downloaded FurMark to stress test my GPU, and the EXACT same symptoms as joining a CSGO occurred. The PC completely crashed when I started the test.

Possible faulty GPU/PSU?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I've tried to find my minidump file, but I don't think Windows is creating one.
I do have Small memory dump enabled to write an event, yet I cannot find it under C:\Windows\Minidump

This is what I get under Event Viewer;
"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919}
and APPID
{F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."

I removed the GPU, and on integrated GFX I watched a YT video, and the computer turned itself off.
Although the integrated GFX did let me use FurMark to test, and my GPU didn't.
Perhaps the intense draw of current at the beginning of the game or stress test on the GPU is too much.
This threw me off the trail of the GPU going bad..

I'll re-check my connections, and hopefully find a local PSU to test.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I tried a friends GPU on my rig, and it stressed tested fine.
I then used his PSU with my GPU and was fine.
Reverted back to my PSU & GPU, and it failed.

I RMA'd my PSU. I appreciate the help!

I was watching Netflix using integrated graphics, with my GPU uninstalled and it had the same symptoms as before.
It shut off and rebooted, and the worst part is there is no minidump. I have Startup and Recovery -> Write an event to the system log -> checked
Writes to %SystemRoot%\Minidump; yet there is no C:\Windows\Minidump

That leaves CPU, Mobo, or RAM.

Any other suggestions? Individual stress tests for CPU and RAM?

I was using Chrome as my Netflix browser, yet the symptoms are still there while running csgo.exe

I ran Prime95 to test my CPU which was at 100% load for 10 minutes.
Temperatures.img
One of my cores got up to 90°C, yet I am using my stock cooler.
I'll order a Hyper 212 Evo.

Now my PC turned off while streaming YouTube on Chrome, then boot looped on start up and would not POST.
turned on for a second, displayed 00 then 10 on my MSI Gaming 5 Mobo. Fans spun for a second, then turned off for a second, and repeated endlessly.

I removed my CMOS battery and changed the jumpers for a few.
The PC then booted into BIOS and I changed time and restarted, and symptoms reoccurred.

Going to the store for a replacement CMOS battery.

The symptoms are still present outside of a browser.

I installed my Hyper 212 Evo.

I noticed a high temp on my Mobo - TMPIN5 at 127 degrees celsius.
Is this normal? I read that it's an issue by the way the temp is recorded, but where could I find this on the physical board?

Took a look at the previous temps, and it was the same temp at the mobo before and after the cooler.
Also the TMPIN5 temp stays static at start up or after an hour. I touched every square inch of my Mobo to test for this, and I'm sure it has to be false. I would've burnt myself badly if it was in fact 260 degrees fahrenheit.

I ran a RAM and CPU stress test and passed with no errors.
Ran a GPU stress test and failed.
I'll try only using one monitor and two different HDMI's.

I tried to join a CSGO game with one monitor, with two different HDMI's, both crashed.
Both monitors, one had task manager and HWMonitor open and didn't spike above 50% CPU and 30% memory, at 105 degrees F for GPU and crashed.
I removed my GPU and I was able to join a game.
I went to boot my PC back on after reinstalling my GPU and it boot looped, and wouldn't successfully POST.
I used my other laptop to read some forums, pushed on my RAM and other connectors, and it turned on.

I want to say it's my GPU, but other symptoms are still prominent.

Hi vykn,

Just wondering, but did you ever solve your problem? I believe I'm having almost the exact same problem with my PC. RMA'ed pretty much the entire machine except CPU and GPU. I've RMA'ed the PSU, MOBO, and RAM. Didnt RMA GPU because no dump file crash/shutdown happens without GPU installed, I use EVGA GTX960. Furmark crashes it instantly and games will crash at random, but soon after starting. Also uncommonly during normal use like browsing internet or just going through computer files. The only time I managed to "solve" the issue is by taking out the gpu and then change to an old 400w non modular PSU(down from my original EVGA 650w modular). Which led me to think maybe the PSU cables were faulty. So I even replaced the PSU cables, but to no avail. The machine lasted about 15 months working perfectly until this issue.
