PC crashes randomly

Hello

My PC has been crashing recently (hence the title). Its random, and by the error dumps that are to follow (There copied and pasted from nirsoft bluescreen viewer, if that doesn't show enough send me in the direction of better ones please). As you can see the records go back to September, I probably should have done something earlier but it's still been usable. What do you think is causing it? By the looks of things it's caused by different things. It also seems to crash more when gaming, but sometimes it crashes on chrome when I try to change tabs or just plain crashes. There was also a time when the pages like the new tab page on chrome snapped before the pc crashed if that helps.

maybe its a graphics card problem with the driver the display drivers try to reinstall the drivers and try using other browsers than chrome

Well I tried using firefox and the pc still crashed. I'll try reinstalling the drivers, anyway to make it as 'clean' an install as possible. I did use the ATI IGP at first so come to think of it could that be the problem? Its only really started since I upgraded to the triple core. PCs can be funny can't they?

Looks like a ram or a hdd issue to me. Run Memtest overnight and see if that crashes and if thats clean run a sector scan on your hdd. When a few clusters start going bad and the system tries to write to them then it can cause crashes until something marks them as bad.

You're not using flash memory to speed up your system are you? If so scan that too.

I have run memtest in the past but that was for like 20mins, which is what the program recommended as minimum. I don't think i did it properly either. You have to run one memtest per CPU to get the best results right? That involves sharing the ram equally between each program? Do you set the memory size for the free ram or all of it?

Also sounds a bit nooby but which tool is the sector scan one? Ive ran the error checking tool and that came up with nothing, forgot to say that.

Ok right I've run check disk on windows (I assume that's where you look for bad sectors-the option was there) and it didn't find anything. I've run memtest from 10am to 5.30pm. It got 200% coverage and that came up with nothing either, so could we safely assume that these two things are ok?

I'd have to assume that it's the video drivers now. How would one go about doing it properly? Googling it some have suggested using sysprep. Is that going to be the easiest way of doing it?

i was having the same issues when playing bf3 on my system when i first set it up. its something conflicting with the graphics driver using the advanced feature and hit the one that removes and installs a fresh copy of everything. try updating to the beta if you are running a nvidia card. also if you have catalyst control center remove it, it caused me many errors and freezes randomly when running my card. im not sure hwy it caused my computer to crash even when it wasnt running

Smells of bad RAM. Every BSOD is typical of failed RAM.

I suspect this is a case where the RAM passes memtest, but when the system is running at full load, the motherboard is causing errors. Best case to test for this is Prime95's Blend test.

In this case, either use fewer sticks of RAM, or increase the voltages of the northbridge/RAM slightly. Looser memory timings could also help.

if you ran checkdisk with both options selected then yes, but i would run it 5 or 6 times in a row.

edit - if you have 8gb of ram or more you can disable virtual memory as a test.
