I've been having a recurring issue where my PC crashes during gaming. Event Viewer shows "WHEA Logger Event ID 18" errors with a random Processor APIC ID.

I've also noticed that, after this crash occurs, Windows selects a random different Power Plan, where some of the options are missing after the crash (Most commonly Processor Performance Cor Parking Min Cores).

I've tried RMA for the GPU, but that came back with no issues (Tested in multiple systems). My PC eventually started crashing with a different GPU as well, so no issues there.

CPU has been stress tested with Linpack Xtreme, with no issues.

After a full format and reload reinstall of Windows the issue goes away for about 3 weeks, then comes back again. This has been a recurring theme since November last year .

Is it possible that I have a faulty Motherboard? I've flashed the Bios to the latest version, but that has also not fixed the issue. This only occurs when playing demanding games (most recently Jedi Survivor and Cyberpunk.

PC Specs:
Mobo: Asus Rog Strix B550-A
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU: XFX Radeon RX 6800XT Merc 319
Cooler: Cooler Master ML360 AIO
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3800 CL18
PSU: Asus ROG-STRIX-1000G 1000W

Do you have any Asus programs on the PC? Windows shouldn't be able to change plans BUT motherboard programs can. I would remove them and see if it helps. Uninstall Armory Crate - I wonder if its the problem

I would try running this on CPU and see if you get any errors (unless you have already)

I would run this overnight as it can take a long time

Motherboards have no tests, so best test everything else and if it comes out ok, its a process of elimination to ID what doesn't work.

Thanks! I'll run it as soon as I have a gap. If I come back to my PC and it's at the startup page, I'll know it crashed -_-
If that passes, then it'll have to be the motherboard by process of elimination.
For now, getting rid of Armory Crate
