When I play games on my pc it crashes and sometimes stops detecting my SSD after a crash and I have to keep turning on and off my pc until it somehow fixes itself. My pc is 1080 ti i7-6700k 16 gbs of ram Maximus 8 hero alpha MB 850 watt psu
If your ssd stops being detected soon after crash sounds like its possibly dropping out while in use. If it's an sata ssd, check sata data connection is good both ends and check sata power as well, either might be a smidgen out. Try another data cable.

but why does my pc crash when I only play games? also, none of my games are on the SSD
Windows is on the SSD i assume and so is the pagefile? Games can still use onwards of 10GB+ of data written to the pagefile even with 16GB ram. Perhaps check data and power connections as well to the hdd. Bit strange how the SSD disappears after a crash though. Would be worth investigating.

Also troubleshoot memory, one stick at a time.
I also got ntkrnlmp.exe this as a mini dumb after a crash
Believed to have something to do with something failing in Window's kernel. Could be drivers (peripherals, motherboard - chipset, audio, sata host controller), that'll be digging in quite a bit. Or it could be faulty ram and as i said earlier something wrong with the ssd / and or connection to it.
