PC Crashing to Colored Screen with DirectX 11 Games

These crashes occur during certain games, an issue I've researched greatly and settled on NOT being a temperature issue, or a power issue. The crash is usually to a black screen, with sound broken and stuttered in the background. Though sometimes the screen also crashes to a blank blue, green or pink screen, before the fan picks up speed and the computer must be restarted.
Temperature does not exceed 75C most times, and some games crash as soon as they start up, or a few minutes in, CPU and GPU temperatures not even having the chance to rise. Rather these issues seem to be triggered by specific things happening in the game (though it is beyond me what specific things in most cases).

EDIT: Windows in built event viewer only returns a "This computer didn't shut down cleanly, due to a crash, power failure, etc etc etc."

A change in settings do not usually help with the issue, except in one case, with Warframe. Some for these crashes seem to happen for oddly specific reasons, others just starting the game.

Experimenting with under-clocking made crashes less FREQUENT, but never solved the issue.

These crashes seem linked to DirectX 11, as disabling it on some games seems to solve the crashing issue for them. This leaves me high and dry for troubleshooting games that require DirectX 11.

My system is as follows:
ASUS Desktop M32AD Series
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750
INTEL(R) Core(TM) i7-4790S CPU @ 3.20 GHz
12.0 GB Installed, 11.98 GB useable RAM
300W PSU

Attempted Solutions

  • Updating Firmware for GPU
    Updating/Downgrading GPU graphics drivers
    Updating Chipset Drivers
Dusting out PC (this is apparently what voided its warranty, or so I'm told)
Moving PC to a better ventilated location
    Underclocking/Overclocking GPU

Broken Games

  • Rocket League: Crashes during SOME explosions (first game to begin crashing)
    Space Engineers: Crashes Rarely
Borderlands 2: Crashes when Shield breaks
    Starcraft II: Crashes in-engine cutscenes
    XCOM
XCOM II: Intermitent crashes, random (?)
Styx Master of Shadows: Crashes as soon as cutscenes finish
Warframe: Crashes if DirectX 11 effects are enabled
Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide - Crashes randomly
    Overwatch: Crashes randomly
    Evolve (Stage 2): Crashes randomly
Subnautica: When using remote control cameras

Games that are surprisingly not Broken
These games can be run at most settings without crashing, or really any other issue (besides the general "run like garbage because it's graphics my computer can't support them at high settings".)

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    Dark Souls III
    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
    Skyrim
    Fallout 4
    Planetside 2
    Far Cry 4
    Far Cry Primal
    Mass Effect
    Mass Effect 2
    Grand Theft Auto: 5
    Grand Theft Auto: 4

Ultimately I am expecting this to fall to a hardware issue. The only three solutions I have seen recommended for similar issues I haven't tried are the nuclear option of factory defaulting the PC and the option of upgrading or replacing my GPU and PSU. I've come to expect these to be necessary, but I'm hoping to find a quicker trouble-shoot. ASUS hasn't been particularly helpful. This was a prebuilt package I purchased at a time when I wasn't confident in buying my own parts and didn't have the time to put them together. Now I think it's far too much money gone down the drain. I'm baffled and looking for a troubleshoot before I simply resign myself to waiting for upgrades or a fresh build.

Alright so I went through the process of updating my BIOS, after ASUS finally got back to me and recommended it to me after six days. NOW instead of crashing my computer, I simply lose the game. It's not much, but it's progress and makes tracking issues easier. The error returned is a "Your rendering device has been lost". I'm going to do some more stress testing, monitor temps again, and generally just make sure my bases are covered.

Correction: I have more time with SOME games, but stress testing reveals this hasn't helped at all. Which basically means this has been narrowed down to a hardware issue. Which leaves me again high and dry until I can upgrade or replace WHATEVER part is at fault in my computer.
