PC Crashing when running in Crossfire

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me on this... My apologies if this is not posted in the correct place.

I've been having trouble for a few months, and am getting to the point where I'm about to buy some new hardware, but I wanted to get some expert opinions before I do, to make sure I'm on the right track.

When I run any game (that requires a modicum of graphics processing), and I run in Crossfire mode, the game crashes within the first minute. The only way out is a hard reset. At first I thought it was my video card, so I tried swapping PCI-e ports, running each card standalone, as well as tried a new crossfire cable. I also had an issue with a previous power supply about 5 months ago (fan died), and got a new one (CoolerMaster GX750). I tried swapping the power supply lines to the video cards as well, thinking maybe the issue was one of the lines, but that doesn't seem to make a difference either. I have tried a plethora of drivers, including the most recent ones. I have also tried a full re-install of my OS. It runs fine if I disable Crossfire (but obviously not as well as I would like).

I've also noticed the system is generally not as stable as I would like (or as it used to be), regardless of Crossfire being enabled. For instance, Call of Duty: Ghosts crashes on me every once in a while while playing, and I've noticed sporadic issues with the PC waking up from sleep mode.

All of this troubleshooting and testing I've done leads me to think that the issue is the Motherboard. Can anyone confirm that my above explanation would indicate such an issue? I don't really have any other parts I can use to rule things out, or people to borrow them from so I feel like I'm at the point where I need to replace parts, and obviously don't want to spend money replacing the wrong thing.

My hardware specs are listed below (edited snapshot taken from Speccy). Thanks in advance for any insight.

I tried updating the bios again, and still no luck. I noticed when I ran COD: Ghosts in xfire last night that both GPU's were showing 0% activity while the game was running in the catalyst control center. This is odd, because before when i wasn't having problems they would hover between 40% and 80% typically.

I'm thinking of buying the ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard, but I don't want to spend that amount of cash if it's not going to fix the issue. Any thoughts?
