Pc display settings

Hello,
Hi, i've just connected my (old) pc to my new tv using a vga to component cable (not worried about audio) the tv has suggested it does not support and I should change the display resolution for the external device. What settings should I change on the pc and how? thanks in advance

if ur using vga then use vga cable to connect it to your tv. most of tv's have vga or dvi

If it's an old TV set it at 640X480.
