Question PC doesn't detect any audio input

Hi,
I'm using a MSI b450M Pro-VDH motherboard. When I connect my earphones to my PC, the output is fine, I can hear all the sounds from youtube, games, etc. However, none of the apps I use can detect any audio input (meaning my mic doesn't work on apps such as discord). Is this a problem with my motherboard? Ive gone to settings to see if permissions for my mic were disabled for certain applications but that is not the case. How do I fix this?

yeah im using sennheiser momentum earphones which have the mic attached. And i've connected my earphones into the audio jack slot of my motherboard.

if you scroll down just a bit its the number 6 position on the motherboard diagram.

You'd need an adapter like https://www.amazon.com/Damomon-Female-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B011IKHHTW and connect one jack to audio and the other to mic on pc.

oh so there is one mic slot and another audio slot? and currently im only using the audio slot and expecting the mic to work as well?

Exactly. Notice the 4 pin female to 3 pin male jack. This is what you need.

Check also the headset package. Usually, manufacturers provide such adapters.
