pc doesnt perform as well as it needs to

so i build a new pc and it doesnt perform as well as it needs to, i tried to play dirt rally. my pc should be able to handle it i think, it didnt. then i tried to play rock of ages and portal (portal 1) and they didnt perform good either. specs are 8gb ram - intel core i3 3,2ghz dual core. and graphics card is dual x r9 285. oh, im running windows 8.1

A quality graphics card doesn't really compensate for a sub par processor - ideally, you want a quad core processor for gaming even though those aren't the most demanding titles out there. RTS usually are the ones that need lots of processor, but action games like dirt do as well.

What's the screen res you're playing at, what average settings are you using, what are you using in the background and what FPS are you hitting on those?

i got like 1 fps. dont know why, on rock of ages i got maybe like 10... and the resolution is1080p
