Hi.
So I've bought a new PC but it doesn't recognize my 3TB WD MyBook on the 3.0 USB ports.
On the 2.0 ports it works well.
It suppose to support USB 3.0 but nonetheless it doesn't even recognize it. The firmware is up to date.
Any idea?

Hey there again, @Ron Kinderz!

I'd recommend you find a USB 3.0 cable from another device. It's the cable that is connecting your WD My Book to the computer. Just make sure you don't swap the AC Adapter that connects the external to power with an incompatible power supply as you might damage the drive itself. However, any USB 3.0 cable should be able to connect the external HDD to the computer. You could even ask a friend to lend you one, if you can't find such an alternative around you. It might also be a good idea to check how the other devices are recognized by the front USB 3.0 ports on your rig.

Keep me posted.

Hey there, @Ron Kinderz!

I'd suggest you attempt to connect the WD My Book using another USB 3.0 cable and see if you will be able to detect it through the USB 3.0 ports on your newly acquired PC then. If you have access to another USB 3.0 compatible system (PC or laptop), check how the WD My Book would get recognized there as well. If the issue is not present there, you might want to consider resetting BIOS to its default settings & then re-configure the manual changes you have made so far in the BIOS interface.

Let us know how it goes & good luck! :)

I've connected it to 3.0 ports on the front, it worked only on the first time, and then stopped responding from those two. i'm afraid I don't have a suitable cable like the MyBook cable. any idea what it can it be?
