As the question stated, the PC either just freezes or just randomly restarts. Been googling this on my brothers PC, could be a disk issue or a virus. We used HDTune to test the disk errors and there were 0 errors, this was done on safemode without networking since I was getting PC freezes or PC restarts ( now even in safe mode it freezes)

Even though the HDTune said there are no errors, I still think it might be a driver issue or hardware issue as I haven't downloaded anything in the past couple of days.

Since it was freezing a lot, in one of the case it popped up a disk repair prompt when turning on the PC similar screen in this case, in this link: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-c-drive/6234099b-8f0c-48da-92c4-5dbe4d2ac5ef

Roughly 20 mins ago, i have this BSoD and it hasn't restarted the pc yet. DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION was the stop code ( Image is below).

Could this also be a virus causing the problems that i've been having.

I don't know to do, can't even scan for virus as the PC just freezes or restarts before the scan can be completed.

Context: This happened a couple hours, I was turning my computer on like usual and downloaded an update patch for a game (Diablo 4). While downloading the patch the internet disconnected ( which is a normal problem for me). When the internet came back I resumed the download. Then minutes later my PC randomly restarted itself went back onto the game launcher just to come across to see that i have to install the whole game again even though I have the whole base game installed and played normally yesterday.

Abit more context, within the last week to this week in rare instances, my monitors goes black and can’t do anything besides force shut down. all cables were fixed and not loose just assumed to be a gpu driver issue and I did update it with a clean install and haven’t run into a black screen issue yet. Until this bigger problem now.

Could very well be an issue with the OS, I've had that something similar until I noticed that the issue cropped up when the OS wanted to update my chipset drivers.

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time?

I guess the most logical thing to do now would be to reset windows? This has often solved blue screens for me in the past.

Regardless I've had this exact problem with an old build, I am not too sure about the cause but when I troubleshooted my hardware it seemed to have gone away when I replaced my old HDD with an SSD, I remember first installing windows on my SSD and then installing the same HDD afterwards. That seemed to have solved my issue with it so I don't know if you have multiple drives you can swap out and test with. Maybe that could be worth trying?

I'd also try to boot it with a different OS (I have Ubuntu on a USB stick I use for troubleshooting), just to give you more of an idea of whether the issue is solely OS related or if it's a hardware problem. It's a long shot but might be handy to know. Also send your specs

In terms of the screen blacking out, I find that old/faulty RAM can really often cause crashing and the screen going black. Don't ask me why but every time one of my friends have had issues with blue screens, replacing the RAM or even removing one of the sticks solved the issue. Also a long shot but could be worth trying.
