Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone could provide any advice.
I bought a computer off a friend a while back, however it is horrendously slow when it comes to loading.
Takes around 20 - 30 minutes for it to actually be decently usable and then it craps out for a bit if i try to open something.
It's absolutely fine when it comes to playing games and doesn't have any issues. But when it is loading games and starting up it's slow. It's even slow when trying to open the start menu etc.
I've tested the hard drive, defragged, ran checks and the drive seems to be absolutely fine. I even wiped it entirely and reinstalled the OS to no luck.
I just put another HDD into the system to see if it experienced the same and it did. The disk seems to be at 100% usage on task manager but is only reading at about 5 - 15 Mb's (I'm not sure what is a good range for typical use when loading games etc to compare to).
Either way, it is horrifically slow when it trying to load things. It also won't run directly on start up, it gets past the BIOS flash and then restarts, shows the BIOS flash and then restarts again on a loop. Have to go into the BIOS and overide manually despite having the correct boot order selected.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as im unsure if it is a hard drive issue or something else.
Cheers
