Hello,

Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-E
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32gb (2x16gb)
SSD: Corsair MP400 1tb NVMe
PSU: Corsair RM Series RM650 650W '80 Plus Gold'
Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53 AIO CPU Water Cooler - 240mm
OS: Windows 10

I built this system about 6 months ago. It has been working perfectly with heavy use since then. On Monday it randomly crashed, however restarted and was fine, an hour later it crashed again, and after that whenever restarted it goes into windows Startup repair – however none of the tools there appear to work, instead they say no administrator profile is present - so can’t do anything. Even command prompt won't launch.

I have run memtest, and that runs some of the first pass then fails. It never actually flags any RAM issues or errors. I can post the log file if helpful.

I have attempted to boot with a windows USB to reinstall – when I do that, it launches the installation/repair screen, but only ever for 5-10 seconds after which it dies again.

It happily launches into the BIOS if i do that, and there it does not crash.

Any thoughts on what might be going wrong?

Thank you any help much appreciated.

Thank you both for your input!

I don't think it's a file corruption issue - memtest crashes and that should not even be using any system files (as it runs off a USB stick). Also it won't boot into safe mode (it just crashes when I try)

The memtest log file gave the following in its log just before crash which seems to suggest temperature of 51 degrees which seems ok? (Or am I reading that wrong?)

Would really appreciate any further advice.

Thanks Dorsai.

I have now swapped in a new PSU (750W), new RAM and new SSD, and the issue has not been resolved / I still can't boot into windows or re-install windows from the USB.

Do you think it could be the processor or motherboard? as mentioned, it does post and it does load the BIOS without any issue, and I can run some diagnostic tools from USB (although they often crash midway through), but not boot/reinstall windows...
