[SOLVED] PC fan DIY, will work or start fire?

I want to modify this 4 pin fan wire and replace the 4 pin with molex and connect it to psu will it work? or it will explode?
edit: i dont have 4 pin or 3 pin header available on mobo thats why i wanna try it.

I can't see why it wouldn't work. If the fan is rated at the same Voltage/Amperage as the 12v rail from the PSU.

I think the biggest concern is that you could accidently short the connections. You can buy Molex to 4-pin adapters for a pittance. I would go that route.

Elec tape is not a long term solution. It will come apart, exposing bare wire.
