Question Pc fans come on when pc shut down

Strange question. Not sure if I am posting in correct place. Yesterday i removed my GPU (Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4gb) to clean it. After i replaced the card onto the mobo, reconnected the power to the card, and then connected the power to the psu, the case fans and the LED lights came on on the pc without even turning the pc on. I opened the the case pressed the GPU to make sure it was seated properly, the problem stopped.


Last night, after shutting the pc down (it did comepletley shut down) the fans and the LED came back on. This morning when I pressed the GPU the problem stopped. I left for work this morning with the PSU unplugged. The only thing I can think it may be is that the GPU is not seated correctly? Or perhaps I did not use the same HDMI port. Never had any issues unitl I removed the GPU card.


Any one else ever experience this?

Can you please provide your full PC specs, if you don't mind ? I don't want to make any guess here. What's the power supply's make/model number ? Does your motherboard has support for integrated/onboard graphics, so that you can boot your OS without the GPU ?

Try to clear/reset all the CMOS settings, if need be. Why are the fans and the LED still powered on, even after system shutdown ? Are you using any UPS ? Did you apply too much pressure on the GPU to reseat in firmly on the PCI-e x16 slot ?

Anyways, kindly provide specs, as much as possible from your side.

Please supply the following system details/information:

-Motherboard make & model# (include Bios version if graphics card is not recognized or you are having stability issues)
-RAM (amount, clock speed, model#/link of kit, configuration)
-Graphics card(s) make and model# (clock speed, voltage if modified, Driver version and GPU temp both @ idle and load)
-Power supply make,model#, "AND" age (note if using 110V or 220V A/C input)
-HDD/SSD configuration (ie: Raid setup/ back up/ OS drive/etc..)
-Case/Chasis make,model# (fan make, model#, and configuration if having thermal issues)
-Operating System (If using Windows note Framework and service pack version)
-Monitor make, model#, and resolution (If model# is unknown list resolution and refresh rate)

*If the unit is a "laptop" or "All-in-one" system you must note the make and model# of the unit. Be sure you are ALWAYS using the OEM/manufacturer's Driver updates for the unit.

*If "Crashing":
-Note the nature of the "crash" in detail, as there are several definitions for the word "crash".

*If "performance" related issue:
-Note the "exact" point in which the performance reduction occurred (ie: After Windows update, After Bios update, After Driver update, After thermal system shutdown, After Hardware change/upgrade etc...)

*For diagnostic purposes please disable the following:
-Any/all Antivirus/ Anti-malware software
-Any/all OSD monitoring software
-ALL overclocks outside of factory spec .

I am at work atm. The PC runs fine. Last night when I went to bed it was off, all fans everything off. When I got up this morning the fans/LED were on. I opened the case, and lightly pressed the video card. The fans?LED went off. I left the pc unplugged till I get home.

I know I have plenty of power from my PSU. I have run this card for over 6 months with no issues until I removed it to clean it. Could it be that the card is not set right this time? Or can dust in the slot cause this? I also read somewhere that a HDMI cable can give power to the GPU through a port....

My Fan is Running with PC Unplugged

So here's a strange one. I turned my PC off last night and even unplugged it, but the CPU fan and LED stayed on regardless. It only stopped once I unplugged the HDMI cable from the back of my graphics card (my monitor was on). Any ideas on what that is or if it represents a failing component...

Ok. Took out video card. Pc fans still come on. When I tap the PSU it stops. I believe I need a new PSU soon.
