Specs
CPU: i5 7600k
GPU: GTX 970
Mobo: MSI Z270 Pro Gaming Carbon
RAM: 2x 8gb G.Skill TridentZ RGB
PSU: 650 W NZXT (HALE82 N?)
Sorry for this being so long but I’ve tried a lot of solutions to no avail.
PC had been running perfectly fine for quite a while, only had the GPU for about 4 years and the PSU is pushing a bit over 6 years now. I performed a GPU drivers update which required a restart. After initiating the restart, the PC never came back on and wouldn’t turn on again. Ended up fixing this by simply unplugging and plugging things back in and it eventually worked. Next day comes and I’m playing Rocket league when it suddenly shuts down with no warning and restarts again by itself. This happens two more times but on the third time however it never came back on. Fiddling with all the connections didn’t seem to work this time. I’ve noticed that every time I clear the CMOS with the GPU installed and then press the power button, lights in the case and on the mobo flicker once very fast and the fan just begins to attempt to spin before it all shuts down again. Integrated graphics still work and when I try using my old GTX 660 the PC boots up completely fine with no issues. I was thinking it’s possible that the PSU may be shot and only has enough power to support the 660 and not the 970 as opposed to the possibility that my 970 itself may be fried. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you need any more info.
TL;DR Pressing power button with GPU installed causes mobo and case lights to flash once and then shutdown. System boots when using different GPU.
