Build: E7600 3.06Ghz
Intel DG42GT
2gb ddr2 Kingston x4
PSU: Bitefenix Whisper M 450W

So, I have tried this setup with two CX430M and both of them start and power the board fine (have now booted Win10).

It is only this PSU which gives me a problem on startup - this one also did not successfully start another PC build I am doing, whereas the CX430M did.

I am starting the PC using a screwdriver to short the power switch on the motherboard.

When I hit the on switch on the Whisper M 450W, I hear a click, see both fans start to spin, the Mobo Power LED flashes once, and then it all stops, before happening again.
The link is to a video showing you this behaviour.

Seeing as a similar pattern has occurred with the other build (where the Whisper 450W did not do ANYTHING upon hitting the switch), and the Corsairs seem to handle it fine, I am concluding that the problem is the PSU and I do not have the knowhow to fix it.

Note, the paperclip test comes up positive for all 3 PSUs. The Whisper PSU was a 2nd-hand BNIB purchase.

THANK YOU.

The mobo is on top of a cardboard box.

The Sata cable is now definitely the correct one, and it is still doing the same thing. They look identical. Edit: I can see that the Corsair ones are clearly marked 'Type 3' whilst the Bitfenix ones will say 'SATA' or 'PCIE'.
