Hey guys, i built my gaming PC 5 years ago and would like to get into VR. I went to the HTC VIVE website and downloaded their test. The test says that my video card isn't compatible. My current build is.....

Asus P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT motherboard
Intel i7 3770k
Evga GTX 670 video card
16gb ram
Intel 520 SSD
SeaSonic 650W power supply

I'm thinking of purchasing the EVGA 1080ti FTW3 or the MSI 1080ti Gaming X to replace my GTX 670. What do you guys think? And do you recommend me changing anything else with my build?

Ya, it's overclocked a lil bit, i think i just used the built in feature to overclock it. i7 is at 3.8ghz. I'm sure i can get much more out of it, but i don't know too much about computers and I don't want to mess anything up :p

Ya, that's what i've been thinking. I might just go with the EVGA 1080 FTW.

I been playing a bit more with the built in overclock feature and i raised it from 3.8 to 4.2. Downloading Unigine Heaven to see if it's stable. I've never ran a benchmarking program before.

the 1080 ti is IMO Required for VR. I have the same setup! I went from a 970 to a fury x to a 1070.
Only the titan x and Xp and the 1080ti can render every single frame. Most all use a copied frame to keep the 90 FPS per eye. And yes that mean the 1080

Well, I hope the 1080 will do the trick for now. I didn't purchase the 1080 ti. My nephew brought over his 1050ti and we played quite a few games, things seemed to be working fine. We didn't play any games that were too intense though. I'm thinking I should be OK for most games with the regular 1080. Fingers crossed. My 1080 was lost in shipment and I had to play the waiting game :( Newegg sent out another and it's saying that it should be here tomorrow. I'll soon find out how the 1080 performs in VR.

1080 will work.. the 1050 will work. What it does is copied the d frame and displays it again. This makes it 90 fps but can have a sick feeling. 1080 does that 10 percent of the time. 1070 like 40 % my old 970 was 50%. For cartoon games not even a issue but in fps. Like onward Insta barf for me. The 1080 ti renders every single frame. So for me it was a relieve.

Don't worry, the 1080 is more than plenty.
