Hi
I am new to the forums and I recently build a new gaming PC with this components:
AMD FX-8320
Asus M5A97 r2.0
8gb of kingston 4x2 gb 1333
1 tb WD blue
AMD R9 290
Gigabyte 650w 80 bronze
thermaltake Armor classic full tower with 220mm fan on the side pannel + 2x 120mm for Intake and exhaust

The problem is when I run the system on stock clock it freeze without running any app just after win logon

the only way to keep it running while surfing web is to lower cpu speed to 3ghz @ 1.26v
and still crash on prime blend and pass small ffts.
Temp not going over 60 according to core temp.

If you have CPU-Z, HWMonitor and 3DMark installed on your machine, I would either update them or completely uninstall all of them. Many have reported issues with these software with Windows 8 and/or an Asus motherboard.

It's hard to swallow, I agree but there are many cases with the Asus motherboard, Windows 8 and these software. Try uninstalling them, and please report back how that goes.

All the best. :)

I tried to bump the cpu volt up to 1.42 and still have the same problem it can run small fft test and still freeze when I run youtube or blend test
I did also swap the vga card but same results

about the OS I am running win7 .

just an update:
I managed to make it prime stabe on both small and blend test and its been running cool and quit max 47c on stock cooler in a 23c ambient
by lowering DDR frequency to 1066mhz instead of 1333 and bump mem v to 1.55

but it still freeze when running any internet browser or open youtube clips
I will borrow some ddr3 from a friend and see if this will eliminate the problem.

Another update :
After changing RAMs from a friend systems the problem still presist can survive stress test but fail utube and video playing even with another vga card I think I will test my cpu on a friend's system and see I am leaning toward a DOA mobo.
